CollectTech was born in Dar es Salaam with a simple but important mission: give African water utilities the technology they deserve — not adapted foreign tools, but purpose-built platforms designed for African realities.
Where it all started
CollectTech started with a straightforward observation: water utilities across Africa were managing multi-million dollar assets — pipes, pumps, and customers — using paper forms, WhatsApp groups, and spreadsheets.
The existing software options were either expensive legacy enterprise systems built for Western infrastructure, or basic billing modules with no field operations component. Neither solved the real challenges: offline environments, Swahili-speaking customers, field teams navigating unmarked streets, and regulators demanding accurate data.
We decided to build what the industry actually needed — and CollectTech V3 is the result of years of working directly with utility teams across East and Central Africa to understand, prototype, and refine every feature.

Offline-First Architecture
Every mobile app operates fully without internet connectivity. Data is captured locally and synced when connectivity is restored. No lost records, no failed transactions, no frustrated field staff in low-coverage zones.
Built for African Languages
Amanzi and Amanzi AI support English and Swahili natively. No clunky translation overlays — the app was designed bilingual from day one. Regional language support is on the roadmap.
PostGIS Spatial Intelligence
CollectTech's backend runs on PostgreSQL with PostGIS — the industry standard for spatial data. Every meter, leakage, valve, and service boundary is stored and queried geographically.
Multi-Tenant, Multi-Country
Run multiple water utilities across multiple countries in a single deployment — each fully isolated with their own data, settings, and users. Ideal for regional water authority groups.
EWURA-Ready Reporting
Tanzania's EWURA regulatory reporting requirements are built into the platform. Export compliance reports with one click — no manual data compilation before audits or quarterly submissions.

CollectTech apps are optimised for affordable Android devices used by field technicians and revenue collectors — not the latest flagship phones used by development teams in high-income cities.
